First Order Of Business for Mr Pyne MP: Stop Partisan Doctrine in our Schools

Don’t worry about the Gonski Review Christopher Pyne. Your first order of business when you become the Federal Minister for Education is to emulate Arizona’s new approach and empower school principals to sack any teacher who brings their partisan doctrine into the classroom.

Teachers in Arizona would automatically be fired for bringing “partisan doctrine” into their classrooms under a bill pending before the state legislature.

Arizona Senate bill 1202 is meant to ensure students get a balanced view of what they’re taught in school. In addition to firing teachers who bring partisanship into the classroom, school districts that allow it to happen would face losing state funding.

Arizona GOP congressional candidate Gabriela Saucedo Mercer testified in favour of the bill, telling lawmakers: “I have seen, firsthand, the damage done to our young students by partisans who pretend to be educators.”

“I have seen young students who, through classroom indoctrination rather than instruction, were incited to threaten and harass anyone who disagrees with their position,” Mercer said.

 

The second order of business is to stop showing Al Gore’s BS propaganda movie – An Inconvenient Truth to school children.

Rudd isn’t Labor’s Problem – It’s Labors Policies that are the Problem

BoltA makes reference that Gillard’s pitch cannot overcome this major problem:

 

Whatever her boasts, Gillard has led Labor to catastrophic lows in the polls.

 

Gillard claims that with unity again, things will get better. But here are the things that have killed Labor over the past year and a half. Spot how many had anything to do with disunity or Kevin Rudd stirring:

- breaking a promise to never give us a carbon tax.

- promising “cash for clunkers”.

- proposing an East Timor detention centre, wthout discussing it with the East Timor Government.

- crippling live trade exports.

- starting an Australia Day race riot.

- breaking a wild promise to independent MP Andrew Wilkie on pokies reform.

- promising a “Citizen’s Assembly”.

- passing a carbon tax that will kill jobs without improving the climate.

- wasting billions on “clean energy” proposals.

- giving the Greens a $10 billion green energy fund that will be almost entirely wasted.

- ploughing ahead with a $37 billion national broadband network that will be a colossal white elephant.

- failing to stop the boats, with 740 boat people arriving now in a single week.

- flagging consitutuional changes that will divide us by “race”.

- lecturing Australians as if they were particularly slow children.

- promising to reveal “the real Julia”.

- made Kevin Rudd Foreign Minister.

- the waste, the waste… and the deficits.

Take Rudd out of the picture, and how much of this would not have happened? Take him out, and what changes?

 

Labor is massively split between its traditional base of working class blues and the ecotard greens.

Breaking News: Rudd Stands Down as Foreign Minister

Kevin Rudd has resigned as foreign minister.

Mr Rudd called an extraordinary media conference in Washington DC just after 1am local time (1700 AEDT).

I wish it was Gillard resigning.

Combet’s Muppet-o-nomics

Climate Change Minister Greg Combet at the National Press Club today rejected suggestions the embattled aluminium sector was doomed and said it could continue to thrive using clean energy.

We want to see aluminium grow in this industry, but you don't achieve these things by pretending there is nothing else happening,'' he said.

Yet it’s the “clean energy” from the Renewable Energy Target (RET) that scares the Australian Aluminium Council (AAC) more than the dreaded Carbon Dioxide Tax.

When we look at the cost of government policy and particularly government policy that is imposed in Australia and isn't imposed on our competitors, the RET is actually bigger than the carbon price in terms of what we worry about," AAC executive director Miles Prosser said.

The AAC estimates the cost of the RET to smelters at $80 million a year. The cost of the carbon tax in its first year will be $40m, rising to about $170m by 2020.

Even Beaker the Muppet knows Combet’s clean energy future solution is a death sentence for the aluminium industry.

Gillard Set to Take on Rudd

The Australian reports that Julia Gillard is prepared to sack Kevin Rudd as Foreign Minister and reshuffle her cabinet next week after calling a leadership spill in the party room on Tuesday.

 

An outraged Rudd supporter predicted that “shafting” Mr Rudd a second time would actually win him more support with the Australian public.

“Knifing a prime minister and then knifing him again as Foreign Minister is too much,” the MP said.

“This is an act of bastardry, thuggery and downright hijacking of the Labor Party for personal gain. They don't care about the ramifications for the party or the Australian public.”

The MP predicted caucus members would be “leaned on” by factional heavies to ensure Ms Gillard secured victory in a vote.

The MP said Australia was in danger of becoming an international joke. (We already are)

Another key Rudd backer said there was no guarantee Mr Rudd would even stand if a leadership ballot was called.

“This is a ploy. Why would he play into people's hands?”

The source said the Prime Minister's move to assert her authority would backfire.

“This will not put it down. We are on 32 per cent of the vote.”

Sacking Mr Rudd from the ministry would also be counterproductive, the MP said.

“Then he's a free agent. Jesus Christ, that's really smart. He can say what he likes then.”

 

What a rabble.

Return of the Climate Sceptics

The authors of the Jan. 27 Wall Street Journal op-ed, 'No Need to Panic about Global Warming,' respond to their ecotard critics.

...it appears that the IPCC projections exaggerate, substantially, the response of the earth's temperature to CO2 which increased by about 11% from 1989 through 2011. Furthermore, when one examines the historical temperature record throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, the data strongly suggest a much lower CO2 effect than almost all models calculate.

Yep, CAGW is nothing but a Greens invented scam.

PVO Channeling Julia Gillard

Resident progressive at News Ltd, Peter Van Onselen, channels Julia Gillard.

A large part of me genuinely hopes Gillard finds a way to turn the Labor ship around and save her prime ministership in the process, leaving those of us predicting her demise looking foolish.

If she were able to do so, her legacy would be very different to the way it is shaping up now. Missteps would turn into masterstrokes. The carbon tax would go from being a broken promise to visionary climate change action. And the Liberals would descend into bitter infighting, giving Labor breathing space in a third term in office.

History would judge the move to install Gillard as the right one. For now, the opposite seems true
