Japanese firm plans 250 mile wide solar belt around the moon

Moon Solar

I gather it would cost a bomb but considering we piss against the wall spend globally $359bn per year fighting imaginary AGW for ZERO real benefit and this certainly beats installing millions upon millions of 1,100 AD bird/bat chomping wind totem technology across our planet’s landmass then why not give it ago…

A Japanese construction firm is proposing to solve the well-documented energy problems facing Japan – and ultimately the entire planet – by turning the moon into a colossal solar power plant.

Tokyo-based Shimizu Corp. wants to lay a belt of solar panels 250 miles wide around the equator of our orbiting neighbour and then relay the constant supply of energy to “receiving stations” on Earth by way of lasers or microwave transmission.

The “Luna Ring” that is being proposed would be capable of sending 13,000 terawatts of power to Earth. Throughout the whole of 2011, it points out, the United States only generated 4,100 terawatts of power.

“A shift from economical use of limited resources to the unlimited use of clean energy is the ultimate dream of mankind,” Shimizu says in the proposal on its web site. “The Luna Ring … translates this dream into reality through ingenious ideas coupled with advanced space technologies.”

…Shimizu is reluctant to put a price tag on the construction costs involved but, given adequate funding, the company believes construction work could get under way as early as 2035.

Robots and automated equipment would be developed to mine the moon’s natural resources and produce concrete and the solar cells required for the scheme.

Once completed, the belt would stretch 6,800 miles around the equator and ensure constant exposure to the sun – without the interference of cloud cover – and an equally constant transfer of energy to the Earth.

Shimizu believes that “virtually inexhaustible, non-polluting solar energy is the ultimate source of green energy”.

Sharia law coming to a swimming pool near you

It has been VCAT policy in Dandenong since Sept 2010

Via Allen West

Quote

…Thanks to the website, “Creeping Sharia” we have a another stealthy example. It seems that in Minnesota — St. Paul to be exact — the YMCA and St. Paul Police are accommodating the burgeoning Somali Muslim community.

There have been previous reports from the Minneapolis/ St Paul area regarding Muslim taxi drivers who refused fares to individuals with dogs or carrying alcoholic beverages from the airport. I also recall an instance where a Muslim cashier worker at a Target store refused to touch pork products for scanning and bagging.

Now, as written in the Star Tribune by Nicole Norfleet, the YMCA and police have started a swim group for young Somali girls ages 5-17. The issue is that special considerations are being made to address modesty concerns so that the Muslim girls can swim and not reveal too much of themselves.

According to the report, during the hourlong swim practice, all other swimmers are cleared out of the pool. The men’s locker room is locked and female life guards are brought in. “I think this is just a great opportunity for them to learn basic skills that we take for granted,” said Sgt. Jennifer O’Donnell, who has worked with the Somali community regularly during her time with the department.

I would have thought that teaching the basic skills of liberty and freedom for all people would be a better lesson. Should we not instead be teaching these young girls that America is a land of equality of opportunity and they need not be castigated as a second class citizen?

Why is it that America must accept this cultural norm and the Somali community not accept ours? “We have to have privacy,” said Ubah Ali, who is the mother of 12 year old Rayan Dhamuke. During the past summer, the little girl had to visit the pool at 5 a.m. so that she would have the privacy she needed to enjoy the water while still adhering to her family’s cultural and religious beliefs.

This is how it subtly begins, the emotional tug to allow the young girl “privacy” to swim. Hani Hussein, who volunteers at the Al-Ihsan Islamic Center in St. Paul, said she looked into reserving public pools for girls, but it was too expensive.

You can only imagine the outcry from the ACLU and atheist organizations if a Christian group were advocating for “private” swim time. I thought our country struck down the concept of “separate but equal?”

Why would Somalis come to America if they wanted to maintain their discriminatory cultural and religious beliefs? And where is Sandra Fluke to decry this as a “War on Women?”

I know, the usual detractors will call me and others “Islamophobic” but no label will deter our efforts to tell the truth.

Treasurer Joe Hockey rejects proposed takeover of GrainCorp

Good on him.

Quote

JOE Hockey insists Australia is still open for business ”after rejecting the proposed $3.4 billion takeover of GrainCorp by US grains giant Archer Daniels Midland.

In a surprise move today, the Treasurer ruled the 100 per cent foreign sale of the Australian grains handling company was against the national interest.

The decision avoids a damaging split between the Liberals and the Nationals, which were vehemently opposed to the takeover.

But it risks a backlash from the business sector and free-market advocates within the Coalition, who had argued the sale should go ahead.

What do you think? Was Hockey right to block the takeover?

Naturally the left media will use this as another ‘excuse’ to bash Abbott.

Smuggling it would seem is in Indonesia’s DNA

Breaking: 2GB's Ray Hadley reports that several Indonesian Air Force officers have been detained by Australian Customs for trying to smuggle rare Australia birds (5 Galah’s and 4 Parrots).

It gets better; the Indonesian officers are here to collect the two Hercules Aircraft that we have donated to their Air Force.

Ray Hadley reports the 9 birds are fit and well.

No wonder we spy on them.

More to come as it breaks.

Update: The Indonesians were given a warning and the Hercules plane was allowed to leave Australia.

No wonder the Indonesian’s don’t respect us, we’re as weak as a warm bucket of piss.

Poll: Nearly half of all US Meteorologists don’t believe in AGW

What global warming

Not surprisingly, the ones who do believe are more likely to call themselves progressives (leftards).

Via the Daily Caller

  Quote

Not all scientists agree that global warming is man-made. Nearly half of meteorologists and atmospheric science experts don’t believe that human activities are the driving force behind global warming, according to a survey by the American Meteorological Society.

The survey of AMS members found that while 52 percent of American Meteorological Society members believe climate change is occurring and mostly human-induced, 48 percent of members do not believe in man-made global warming.

Furthermore, the survey found that scientists who professed “liberal political views” were much more likely to believe in the theory of man-made global warming than those who without liberal views.

Political ideology was the factor next most strongly associated with meteorologists’ views about global warming. This also goes against the idea of scientists’ opinions being entirely based on objective analysis of the evidence, and concurs with previous studies that have shown scientists’ opinions on topics to vary along with their political orientation,” writes survey author Neil Stenhouse of George Mason University.

The result suggests that members of professional scientific organizations have not been immune to influence by the political polarization on climate change that has affected politicians and the general public,” Stenhouse writes.

The claim that 97% of “climate scientists” back the AGW theory is 100% bullshit

White House in secret talks with Hezbollah, willing to “warm up to a direct relationship in the future.”

What’s next, a secret meeting with al Qaeda?

Via the Jerusalem Post

Quote

The US and Hezbollah are in secret indirect talks managed by London dealing with the fight against Al-Qaida, regional stability and other Lebanese political issues.

Senior British diplomatic sources, quoted in a report in Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai on Wednesday, said British diplomats are holding discussions with leaders of the Lebanese organization and transferring the information to the Americans.

The discussions “are aimed at keeping tabs on the changes in the region and the world, and prepare for the upcoming return of Iran to the international community,” according to diplomatic sources in Washington.

Because the US, unlike the UK, recognizes both the political and military wings of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization and refuses to distinguish between them, US officials cannot legally meet with any member of the party. But according to the sources, the US is willing to hear the views of the party and “warm up to a direct relationship in the future.”

Goracle apparently goes vegan

Via Fox News

Quote

Former Vice President Al Gore has reportedly become a vegan.

According to the Washington Post, "an individual familiar with Gore's decision" said that the climate activist made the decision several months ago.

Hints that Gore may have gone vegan first appeared Saturday in Forbes, which featured a piece about Hampton Creek, a San Francisco-based startup pushing its plant-based mayonnaise.  The article casually mentioned that the "newly turned vegan" was considering investing in the company.

So long as it’s his personal choice and Goracle doesn’t start pushing veganism on to everyone else in order to “save” the planet from so called CAGW then I don’t have a problem with it.

Morgan Poll: 96.5% of Australian’s disagree that Christmas, Easter & ANZAC Day should no longer be celebrated

Guaranteed to be dismissed by the left as Islamophobia.

Via Sheik Yer Mami

Quote

According to a recent Morgan poll (October 2013) conducted on behalf of Q Society of Australia Inc., the majority of Australians are clearly concerned about Islam and 70% believe Australia is not a better place because of Islam. The survey, completed in late October, found a majority (53 per cent) of Australians want full face coverings banned from public spaces and 50.2 per cent want Islamic sharia law banned all together.

Australians over 65 are most concerned with 59 per cent in this age group stating that a growing Islamic population and Islamic immigration would be bad for Australia. Mature Australians and Liberal/National voters have a significantly negative view of Islam. Notably only 15 per cent of Australians think Islam and terrorism are not related. Multicultural advocates seeking to cancel Christmas, Easter or ANZAC Day celebrations in their quest to not offend other cultures should take note that 96.5 per cent of the population disagree.

The omnibus poll conducted by Roy Morgan Research Ltd has an error margin of 4 per cent.

In Summary:

  • 38 percent: a growing Islamic population and Islamic immigration are bad for Australia

  • 44 percent: strong, clear link between Islam and terrorism

  • 50 per cent want the Shari’a banned

  • 53 percent: ban the burqa from public spaces

  • 57 percent: Concerned about Islam in the world today

  • 70 percent: Australia is not becoming a better place because of Islam
